Blount County runs from river bottom to the first ridges of the Smokies, and Blount Mowing takes its name seriously — mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups from one end of the week to the other, then plowing and salting on the few days a year the county needs it. Saturday mornings in Eagleton Village sound like this work: engines coming up one street and going down the next, and by afternoon a row of yards standing at the same honest height. In February the same trucks turn up before daylight to scrape a drive and cut a walking path out to the mailbox. The pleasure is in the line — a straight edge along a curb, or a plowed lane with square shoulders. Rounds reach Maryville, Alcoa, Wildwood, Walland and Townsend.
