About 911 Sealcoat & More

Winter in Blount County rarely announces itself; it arrives as a glaze on the blacktop somewhere between midnight and the first shift. That is when 911 Sealcoat & More is out on the business lots along Broadway Avenue, headlights swinging, laying salt ahead of the cars that will come looking for a place to park. A plowed lane and a gritted walk are small things right up until the morning they are the only reason a door opens on time. The work means reading pavement the way other people read a sky — where water pools, where shade holds the ice past noon, where the aisle will freeze again after dark. By the time the valley goes pale and gold over the Smokies, it is all done and nobody has to think about it.
