About GreenRoots

October turns the maples along the Macon County fence rows and then drops most of the year onto Lafayette yards in about three weeks. GreenRoots meets that stretch with rakes, blowers and the mower still running, gathering leaves off lawns, clearing beds and walks, cutting the grass down even before the cold sets in. The rest of the year is the patient part: regular mowing, trimming, a clean edge held all summer long. Ground on the Highland Rim can be thin and rocky one lot over from rich creek bottom, and the work adapts to whichever one shows up. A yard raked bare under a bright, thin autumn sky is worth the whole afternoon it takes.
