About Willowbend Lawn and Landscaping

By late June the light in Kingsport hangs on past eight o'clock, laying gold along the long green shoulder of Bays Mountain, and the smell of fresh-cut grass carries the length of a block. That hour is what Willowbend Lawn and Landscaping is working toward: mowing laid down in even passes, edges cut true where lawn meets drive and sidewalk, trimming run out along fences, mailbox posts and the foot of every tree. Summer in this valley is generous and humid, and grass takes it as an invitation, so the answer is a steady week-to-week rhythm rather than a rescue mission come August. Yards get kept the way the mowed banks along the Greenbelt are kept — tidy enough that you stop noticing the work and simply notice the place. From Colonial Heights out toward Church Hill, it is the ordinary pleasure of walking barefoot onto a lawn somebody looked after.
