Jamestown is an old county-seat town, the plateau settlement where Mark Twain's parents once made a home before heading west, and its streets still gather around the Fentress County courthouse. When a winter storm pushes in, those streets and the driveways branching off them can vanish under snow by afternoon. Rick Terry Excavating shifts from excavating to snow removal then, cutting drives and walkways back open so neighbors can reach work, church and the grocery store. Watching a buried driveway turn back into gravel and asphalt never gets old. It is practical work, done with a local's sense that on this high ground, winter does not wait.
