Lawn Ranger

About Lawn Ranger

Cicadas start up around dusk in a Hendersonville July, and the mowers run right through them until the light gives out over the lake. Lawn Ranger rides that long green season — mowing, edging, trimming, clearing the cuttings off drives and walks — and then rides the short white one, plowing and shoveling and salting when a February glaze locks up Sumner County overnight. Two very different kinds of quiet: the one after the last pass on a summer evening, the one before dawn with a shovel and an empty street. Both end with a property somebody can actually use. The rest is just showing up on the right day.
