About The Smallest Seed

September is the quiet turning point for a lawn here — nights cool off, the Clinch valley holds fog until midmorning, and thin ground finally gets a chance to take. The Smallest Seed works that window around Harriman and Kingston with seeding and overseeding, feeding, weed control and the mowing that keeps a new stand thickening instead of thinning out. The bare patches under the shade trees get the most attention, since that is where an East Tennessee summer does its damage. Cleanups and mulch round out the calendar on either end of the year. Watching a scuffed yard come back green is the whole idea behind the name.
