About Wolf River

The Wolf River comes through the north edge of Germantown in slow bottomland green, and the town grew up alongside that water. Wolf River takes its name from the river and its rhythm from the same year the river keeps: mowing, trimming and edging from the first warm week until the grass finally quits in the fall, then plowing and salting on the handful of mornings when ice makes a driveway impassable. Summers here run long and wet and the growth is relentless; winter is brief, sudden and gives no warning at all. Both ask the same thing — show up on the right day and leave the ground better than you found it.
