White's property maintenance

About White's property maintenance

In Friendsville the year swings between two kinds of work, and White's property maintenance takes on both. Through the long, humid summer that means lawn care — cutting back grass that leaps ahead after every afternoon thunderstorm, then trimming along fences and paths until the yard sits neat against the rolling farmland. When winter finally sends a storm down off the mountains, the job turns to snow removal, pushing driveways and walks open so the household can get moving. There is a steady pleasure in ground kept right in every month: even and green in June, bare and passable in January. For homes in Friendsville, White's property maintenance looks after the land beneath them in both seasons.
