Turf Tamers

About Turf Tamers

Fowlkes sits among the soybean and corn fields of Dyer County, out in the Forked Deer River country, where spring planting kicks up dust behind the tractors and the horizon runs long and low. Turf Tamers takes its name seriously in this fertile ground, where lawns grow as eagerly as the crops around them and need mowing and trimming to match. West Tennessee's long, humid summers give grass every reason to run wild, and keeping it in hand takes patient, regular work. Early morning is when the work shows loveliest: dew on a level lawn, straight edges along the walk, and a mockingbird singing from the mailbox post.
