About Mark's Grading & Landscaping

Four in the morning, diesel idling, the whole valley the color of slate. Mark's Grading & Landscaping starts winter days there, because a grading hand already knows every slope and swale in Fall Branch, which drive sheds water and which one turns into a sheet of glass by the mailbox. Snow comes off the drives and turnarounds with a blade, the walks and steps get opened by hand, and the trouble spots get ice treatment before anything is moving on 11W. There is real pride in a farm lane cleared end to end while the ridgeline is still dark. By breakfast the ground is workable again and the truck has moved on to the next one.
