Tri-Cities Maintenance

About Tri-Cities Maintenance

In January the cold slides down off Holston Mountain after dark and settles on the valley floor, and Elizabethton wakes up white and quiet. That hour belongs to Tri-Cities Maintenance — headlights crossing an empty lot, the blade down, a clean black lane opening where a minute ago there was nothing but drift. Plowing, hand-shoveling the walks and doorways, treating the ice that hides in the shade of a building all day: the work is meant to be finished before the first car turns in. Come April the same trucks are hauling mowers instead, and the yards and lots between here and Johnson City go back to being green things that want cutting, trimming and edging on a steady week. It is ordinary work, done on time, and there is a real satisfaction in a property that never once had to wait on it.
