July in Cross Plains is thick air and cicadas going in the treeline by seven in the morning, warm enough already to feel like something you are wearing. Lawn Busters starts early for exactly that reason, mowing and trimming while the dew is still down and finishing before the heat stacks up over the fields. Bermuda and fescue both grow hard here in midsummer, and a yard left a week too long tells on itself, so the schedule matters as much as the machine. The reward is the smell of cut grass hanging over a street at eight in the morning and a walkway swept bare of clippings. Small town, plenty of yards, and every one of them looks better when the truck pulls away.
