Holmes Construction & Fence Co

About Holmes Construction & Fence Co

Red clay, cedar posts and long gravel drives that wander a quarter mile back off the road — that is the shape of property around Apison, and it is the shape of the work. Holmes Construction & Fence Co spends most of the year setting lines across that clay, and when a winter storm crosses the Tennessee line the same trucks go out to open those drives back up. A gravel run takes a careful blade and a good eye, and the gate at the far end needs a path swung clear before anybody can use it. Walks, turnarounds and lots are plowed and treated, with attention paid to the low spot that glazes over first. It is plain work with a plain reward: a place you can get out of, and back into, before dark.
