Farmers Friend

About Farmers Friend

Snow doesn't visit Middle Tennessee often, and when it does it comes in on a Sunday night and shuts all of Hickman County by Monday. Farmers Friend is out in it — plowing the long gravel drives that run back off Highway 100, opening lots around the Centerville square, salting the grades that ice up under the shade of the ridge. Walkways get shoveled and treated so a door can open on time and a farm gate can be reached without a slide. The county's hills make short work of an untreated slope; a cleared one simply gets you home. By the time the fields west of town catch the sun, the ways through are already dark and wet and passable.
