Cumberland Exteriors

About Cumberland Exteriors

Winter arrives in Clay County quietly, a skim of ice laid over the Highway 52 blacktop before anybody's tires have touched it. Cumberland Exteriors runs plow routes through those hours — driveways up on the ridge roads, lots near the square, the steep pulls where a car will slide without a scraped lane and a spread of salt. Walks get shoveled down to the concrete, and entries get treated so the first person out the door isn't testing their footing. There is a plain satisfaction in a black driveway at daybreak, with the banks pushed well back where they'll melt instead of refreezing. Above Dale Hollow the ridges stay white all day; down at the house, the way out is open.
