Past the Bolivar city limits the land opens into cotton and soybean ground, and when a norther comes down across it in January there is nothing at all to slow the wind or the snow it carries. Simpson Land Surveying runs the plow through that country — farm drives, shop lots, and the long approach from the road up to the house. Wind-blown snow does not stay where it fell, so the return trips matter as much as the first pass, especially anywhere a fencerow builds a drift overnight. Walks and steps are cleared and treated, and turnarounds get opened wide enough that a truck can swing without guessing where the edge is. A surveying business spends the year learning how ground rises and falls; in winter that knowledge is simply a better line to push toward.
