The Big Sioux River starts its run just outside Watertown, little more than a slow channel through the wetlands here before it grows into the river that eventually reaches Sioux Falls. Deutsch Excavating clears the driveways and farm lots along that headwater stretch, ground low and often waterlogged enough that a heavy wet snow sits differently here than it does on higher farmland to the west. Loader work suits this ground, since a plow blade alone can struggle where the drainage keeps the base soft even in a hard freeze, and pushing snow well clear of a drive matters more when spring melt has nowhere fast to go. In town, the same equipment handles commercial lots that need a full clear rather than a light pass. The river won't amount to much here for another hundred miles, but the driveways along its banks still need clearing on the same schedule as anywhere else.
