About Von Eschen Lawn and Landscaping

Wagner's grid of short streets sits close enough together that Von Eschen Lawn and Landscaping can clear a whole block's worth of driveways in the time it takes the coffee at the corner store to brew. The grain elevator by the tracks marks where town gives way to the hills, and the crew's route often ends there before doubling back through the older neighborhoods where mature trees still hold snow in their branches longer than the open yards do. A hard freeze after a wet snow turns Charles Mix County's low spots into glare ice by morning, and hauling that snow clear of a driveway rather than just pushing it to the side keeps meltwater from pooling and refreezing across the same spot the next cold night. The Missouri River valley isn't far south, and its cold air settles into Wagner's lower blocks well before it climbs to the higher ground on the north side of town. Working the low ground first, then the rise, is simply how the morning goes.
