About Dirt Works

Out here the wind has come a long way without meeting anything taller than a shelterbelt, so Canby snow does not fall so much as travel. Dirt Works meets it where it piles: the north-south driveways and approaches that drift shut first, and the hard-packed windrow at the end of a drive that a car cannot climb. Blade down, banks cut back wide so the next storm has somewhere to go, walks opened, sand and salt where packed snow has polished itself to glass. Some mornings the sky is still gray-white and the only clean line in sight is the one just cut. That line is the point of the whole business.
