A mile east of Sturgis the old cavalry post at Fort Meade still keeps its parade ground, a wide flat green under hardwoods planted long ago to shade horse soldiers. Ground like that takes its character from being cut the same way, week after week, until the turf itself learns the pattern. A-1 Tree brings that same patience to yards around Sturgis and out toward Whitewood and St. Onge, mowing on a rhythm, running the trimmer tight along fence lines and foundations, hauling the season's litter out of the beds. Late afternoon in July, once the heat lets go and the shadows stretch east, is the hour the work looks best. A lawn kept steadily does not ask for attention; it simply sits right.
