Brandon's Handyman Service

About Brandon's Handyman Service

Sisseton sits up on a long ridge of high ground that rises above the flat prairie for miles around it, and Brandon's Handyman Service works the town's residential streets with that higher, rougher ground always somewhere in view past the rooftops. Winter wind comes harder up here than it does on the flat ground below, so a driveway that looked done at 7 a.m. can need a second pass by nine once the wind's had time to work on it. Brandon keeps a short, personal list of houses and does most of them the same way every time — shovel the steps, plow the drive, salt the walk — the kind of routine familiarity a small town runs on. One of the small glacial lakes that dot this part of high prairie sits frozen and still not far from a few of his regular addresses, catching morning light before anyone else in town is up to notice it. It's a small operation doing a small number of things the same way each time, which in a town this size is most of what people actually need.
