Phillips Seeding

About Phillips Seeding

April in Sioux Falls is mud season, the frost leaving the ground in fits while the city keeps pushing new rooftops toward the fields, each one sitting on a square of raw black dirt. Phillips Seeding works right there, where a lawn has not yet begun. Seed goes down into soil worked smooth, and then everyone waits on the spring rains that sweep in off the prairie. There is a particular joy in the week it happens: a faint green haze over the bare ground, so thin it shows only at a slant in the evening light. Weeks later that haze is a lawn, and a new house finally looks like a home.
