The name says cutting, and in November the cut just changes from grass to snowdrift — Just Cuttin's trucks still run the same northwest-side blocks near Elmwood, only now the blade rides an inch above pavement instead of chewing through fescue. Snow out here tends to come in fast, an Alberta system blowing through overnight and leaving several inches by the time the streetlights switch off, so the crew's first pass through a neighborhood is often the only sound on the block besides a furnace running somewhere. Driveways along the old golf course edge catch drift differently than the flatter blocks further in, banking snow against the tree line in long low dunes that take an extra pass to clear clean. It's quick work, done with the same no-frills approach the company brings to a summer mow — get in, get it done, leave the yard looking like nobody was ever there. By the time the sun's up, the block already looks like a calmer, different version of itself than it did an hour before.
