About SnowBusters

When an Alberta clipper dumps several inches on Sioux Falls overnight, SnowBusters is the crew you'll find working the paths around Falls Park before the city's even fully awake, clearing the walkways that loop past the old quartzite cascades toward the Falls Overlook Café. The pink rock there holds its color even under a crust of ice, and the crew's learned exactly which stretches of path freeze first, in the shadow of the old Queen Bee Mill ruins, and which stay clear longer in open sun. Their name is a small joke they clearly enjoy, but the work behind it is straightforward: get ahead of a storm, clear it fast, and don't stop until the last driveway on the route is passable. Weekend mornings after a big system, dog walkers and runners headed for the park start showing up right around the time SnowBusters is finishing its last pass, which is more or less the whole point. Downtown Sioux Falls in January is quieter than in July, but the falls keep running under the ice regardless, and somebody has to keep the path to them open.
