Lake Francis Case spreads out a few miles from Platte, backed up behind Fort Randall Dam into one of the better walleye stretches on this part of the Missouri, and by the time the boat ramps are pulled for the season, a skin of ice is usually already working out from the shallows. Riverside Landscaping LLC spends its summers on lawns that run right down toward that shoreline, and once the lake locks up for winter, the crew's work turns from mowing those same yards to plowing the driveways and walks above them. A cleared driveway looking almost too tidy against a slope that runs straight down to the ice is a nice enough sight on its own, payoff for a summer spent keeping that same ground mowed. The view from those yards runs open and blue in July and still and white by December, and the crew simply works whichever version of it shows up. The shoreline doesn't care what month it is, and neither does the crew that works it.
