About Area Lawn Works

Lake Norden freezes solid enough most winters that trucks and ice houses dot its surface by January, and the town that shares its name slows into the quiet of a small lakes-region community waiting out the cold. Area Lawn Works spends summers on the yards that slope down toward the shoreline and turns to clearing those same driveways once the lake locks up, working the access roads that ice fishermen use to haul their houses out onto the ice. A yard that drains toward the lake in July drifts the same direction in a blizzard, and knowing that pattern from the growing season makes the winter work faster. Getting a driveway clear before first light means a Lake Norden household can still make the drive into Hamlin County's bigger towns without the ice-locked lake ever slowing them down.
