Gene's Ag Service

About Gene's Ag Service

Beadle County runs in one-mile squares, and Gene's Ag Service works the grass inside them — town lots in Huron, farmyard lawns out where the section lines meet, the wide green apron around a machine shed. Start early. The dew is off by nine and the wind is up by ten, and both of those change how a cut lays down. Around State Fair time the town fills and every lawn on the route gets noticed, so the mowing tightens and the trimming turns fussy — around light poles, the propane tank, the trunks in the shelterbelt. Fall is the long haul: leaves down, one last pass, everything squared away before the ground goes hard. Work out here is quiet, and it shows from the road.
