About Trim It Up

Hot Springs sits down in a fold of the southern Black Hills where Fall River runs warm enough, fed by the springs the town is named for, that it rarely freezes even when the pines up on the ridgeline are loaded with snow. Trim It Up works the driveways and walks that climb those hillsides above the old sandstone buildings downtown, where a slope that looks gentle in July turns into a real hazard once ice sets under a fresh snow. The elevation here means storms behave differently than they do out on the plains — heavier, wetter snow that clings to a roofline and packs hard on a walkway by midmorning. Getting a switchback driveway or a set of hillside steps clear before someone heads down to the river path is slow, careful work, done a shovel-width at a time where a truck blade can't reach.
