Anderson's Mowing

About Anderson's Mowing

The wind reaches Hartford before anything else does, coming clean off the prairie west of Sioux Falls with nothing to slow it but a shelterbelt and a grain elevator. Anderson's Mowing works the yards under that open sky, where a lawn has to stand up to full sun, hard gusts, and a July that means it. The pleasure is in the finish: wheel lines laid straight down a long front yard, the trimmer run tight around every mailbox post and fence corner, clippings swept off the walk so the concrete shows gray again. Spring arrives here all at once, the creek bottoms greening a week ahead of the flats, and the mowing runs right through to the first hard frost. Come evening the low light rakes across the cut and you can read every pass. That is the whole point.
