Split Rock Creek cuts a narrow quartzite gorge right through Garretson, and the streets on either side of it climb and drop enough that a straight plow route through town isn't really possible. Garbage-N-More plows those short, uneven blocks the way it already runs its regular routes, working around the same rock outcrops and tight turns all winter long. The company hauls plowed snow away from driveways too close to the gorge's edge to leave a pile sitting, the same truck-and-haul approach it uses the rest of the year for everything else it moves out of town. Cliffs on both sides of the creek shade parts of Garretson longer into the morning than open ground would, so ice holds on some blocks well after the sun clears the rimrock. By the time the last driveway is hauled clear, Garretson's plowed streets trace the same uneven path the gorge cut through town long before any street did.
