The old Washington High School building sits on its own rise at the edge of Canton, a limestone landmark visible from blocks away even with snow gathering on its roofline before it reaches the streets below. Curb Appeal Landscapes works outward from that hill, plowing the residential blocks that spread toward the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on the town's west side. Much of the work happens in the low light of late afternoon, after school buses have cleared and before Lincoln County's early winter dark sets in for good. The company clears driveways lot by lot along Canton's tight street grid, working past porch lights that flick on early in December. By early evening a plowed street in Canton runs in one dark ribbon between white yards, the schoolhouse hill still visible above the rooftops.
