About Birkel Dirtwork & Excavation LLC

Burke is the county seat of Gregory County, a prairie town of wide streets and wider skies, and after a winter storm all that snow has to go somewhere. Birkel Dirtwork & Excavation LLC moves it the way its name says it moves earth: with a sense of grade, and a thought for where the meltwater will run come March. Driveways are cleared to their edges, and the piles are placed so they will not flood a garage when the thaw arrives. Out at Burke Lake the ice lies white and still, while back in town the drives open up one by one.
