About Glacial Lakes Tree Service

McCrory Gardens holds one of the larger tree collections on this stretch of prairie, rows of species with no business surviving a South Dakota winter standing bare and dignified under a fresh layer of snow every year regardless. Glacial Lakes Tree Service works the residential streets near those grounds, clearing driveways shaded by the same kind of mature trees the gardens are known for, branches meeting overhead in a way that keeps some yards dim long after the open street beside them has caught full sun. That shade changes how snow behaves — it lingers, packs, refreezes overnight into a crust that a sunnier driveway across town never develops — and clearing it well means accounting for the difference rather than treating every block the same. A shaded, tree-lined drive scraped down to bare concrete when the crust on it fought back the whole way is a small win worth having. By the time the gardens themselves reopen to visitors in the pale winter light, the neighborhood driveways nearby already carry the same tended, deliberate look the grounds are known for.
