Midway Service - Vollan Oil

About Midway Service - Vollan Oil

Vollan Oil has always sat at a kind of midpoint, the fuel stop where farm trucks running the section roads around Baltic top off before first light, and the plowing work follows that same geography outward along the gravel and blacktop lacing the fields past town. Winter mornings out here start early and cold enough that frost throws a halo around headlights before the wipers catch up, and this crew is moving over the same roads the milk trucks and school buses will need within the hour. The land around Baltic doesn't roll — it's flat enough that a cleared road reads as a dark line clear to the horizon — and being the reason that line exists before anyone else is up is plain, quiet work in country like this. By the time the sun clears the grain bins east of town, the roads are open and the day can start on schedule. No drama to it, just clear pavement where there was drifted snow an hour before.
