David's Lawn and Snow

About David's Lawn and Snow

There is a week every year in Aberdeen when the mower gets put away and the shovel comes out, and the whole calendar turns on it. David's Lawn and Snow lives on both sides of that hinge — mowing, trimming and edging while the grass is running, then clearing drives and walks once the wind starts stacking snow against the north side of everything. Winter arrives here sideways off open country, and a driveway opened before the workday begins is worth more than almost anything else somebody can buy in January. Come April the cleanup starts over, hauling off the sand and the broken branches so the yard can start clean. The reward is a place kept usable twelve months a year, in a town where the seasons do not negotiate.
