Upstate Tractor Works

About Upstate Tractor Works

Autumn in the Upstate arrives without much announcement — a shift in the angle of the light, hickory going yellow along the fencerows, a morning that finally asks for a jacket. Upstate Tractor Works spends that part of the year on Woodruff's bigger ground: rough lots mowed back down, field edges cut level, leaves pulled off lawns before the winter rains pack them flat. This is rolling country where the Blue Ridge foothills ease into pasture and pine, and a single property can carry a kept yard, a hard slope and a strip gone wild all at once. The good part is standing at the gate late in the afternoon and seeing the place made legible again — clean lines, open ground, the shape of the land showing through where it had been hidden. Upstate Tractor Works serves Woodruff and the surrounding country toward Enoree, Switzer, Cross Anchor and Moore.
