About J Wilbur Collins & Co

Underneath Winnsboro is granite — the blue-gray stone this corner of South Carolina is known for — and something of that steadiness gets into the work done above it. J Wilbur Collins & Co keeps lawns around the courthouse square and out along the county roads: mowing on a schedule, trimming close to steps and mailboxes, cutting the grass back where it wants to creep over the curb. October is the long month here, when the water oaks let go a little at a time and the leaves have to be gathered more than once. The reward is plain enough — a lawn that looks tended from the road, and a walk you can follow without stepping over anything. Winnsboro answers a patient hand, and grass is patient work.
