Stewards of the Earth

About Stewards of the Earth

Spring hits Travelers Rest all at once: redbud, then dogwood, then a yellow film of pine pollen over everything, and the lawns come out of dormancy hungry. Stewards of the Earth takes the first cuts of the season slowly and deliberately, resetting edges and clearing whatever winter left behind in the beds. From there the mowing finds its stride, with trimming around every tree and fence post the mower has to swing wide of. Working outdoors in the foothills means paying attention to the ground itself, how it drains, how it holds a slope, what it will grow. Tending a yard well is one small way of tending the place.
