The Middle Saluda runs cold past Slater all year, loud in spring and barely a whisper by August, and the ridges above it grow trees that get very large before anyone quite notices. Jason & Sons Tree Service takes those on — removals on mountain ground where the lay of the fall matters more than the saw, trimming limbs off a roof or a narrow drive, pruning crowns that took a beating in the last ice. When ice comes up the gorge it loads the laurel and the hardwoods until something has to give, and the clearing afterward is a long, careful morning under a cold sky. By the time the truck backs down the drive there is an open lane, a whole roof, and a yard raked out under the pines. Slater, Marietta, Travelers Rest, Cleveland and the Highway 276 valleys are the home ground.
