Derrick's Landscaping and Pine Needles

About Derrick's Landscaping and Pine Needles

By October the pines around Pageland have dropped enough needles to change the color of the ground under them. Derrick's puts that to work — installing pine straw in beds and around trees — and keeps the rest of the property in step with mowing, edging, trimming, bed maintenance and fall cleanup. Straw laid with the ends tucked under lies smooth instead of shaggy, and it stays put when the November rain comes in sideways. Against a brick house on a cool morning, that band of copper next to the green is worth the drive over. Yard work this time of year is mostly about setting a place up for the months ahead.
