Carolawna

About Carolawna

Late March in Mount Pleasant arrives as a yellow haze — pine pollen on windshields, on porch rails, on every blade of grass from Park West to the harbor. Carolawna opens the season by washing all of it back into the ground: mow, edge, blow the walks, and let the green underneath come up again. Spring is when centipede and Bermuda wake in earnest, and a well-timed feeding with weed treatment sets the tone for the entire hot half of the year. Mulch goes in around the beds, hedges take their first shaping, and a yard shifts from dormant tan to full color in a matter of weeks. It is a fine stretch of the calendar to be out working in.
