Abbapoola Creek makes its slow S through the marsh on the west side of Johns Island, and the grass out here grows the way tidewater grass does — fast, thick, and unapologetic about it. Abbapoola Landscaping LLC works those yards from the first warm mornings on, mowing to a pattern, cutting a clean line where lawn meets drive, and hauling off what the trimming leaves behind. There is a particular satisfaction in the moment the mower shuts down and the only sound left is water moving out through the spartina. Beds get mulched, hedges get shaped, and the property is handed back looking like somebody loves it. It is ordinary work done carefully, on an island where everything green tries to grow twice as fast as you can cut it.
