A February frost sits white on the fields outside Inman until about nine in the morning; then the whole valley steams and the day gets going. Dillon's Tree Care uses those bare weeks for pruning and trimming, through the mill village streets and out along the farms toward Hogback — deadwood taken out, crowns lifted off rooflines, the shape of a tree corrected while it can still be seen. Removals come with attention to whatever sits underneath: a fence, a wellhead, a stretch of grass somebody has kept up carefully. When wind or ice brings a limb down, the clearing is quick and complete, and the yard gets raked out before the trucks leave. Inman, Landrum, Gramling, Boiling Springs and the Highway 292 country in between are all close by.
