Palmetto Green

About Palmetto Green

By the middle of July the heat in Hopkins settles in like weather with a personality, and thunder grumbles somewhere out past the river most afternoons. Palmetto Green works the morning side of that, mowing, edging and trimming while the air is still workable and the dew is burning off. Grass in a South Carolina summer will take an inch a week if you let it, so the schedule stays tight and the blades stay sharp. The reward is a lawn in full green — dense, even, cut sharp against the driveway, shining a little in the light. It is an ordinary miracle that happens all over this town, one yard at a time.
