Twice a day the marsh fills and empties, spartina bending, pluff mud breathing out its old salt smell. Island Environments keeps the yards that sit right at that boundary on Hilton Head Island, where a lawn stops and the Lowcountry takes over. Mowing, trimming, edging, seasonal cleanups and bed maintenance are all shaped by the water and the wind that comes with it. Grass near the marsh takes salt spray and standing damp, so cut height and feeding schedules move with the conditions. Late October is the best of it — low light across the blades, the turf still green, the border between made and wild drawn clean.
