About Horticultural Services

There is a stand of old pines and hardwoods off Palmetto Bay Road at the Newhall Preserve where the island still shows what it was before the lawns. Horticultural Services works with that in mind on Hilton Head Island — mowing and edging turf, certainly, but also pruning shrubs toward their natural habit and reading a bed before touching it. Fertilization and weed control are matched to the grass actually growing in a yard rather than to the calendar alone. Shade, sand and salt each ask something different, and the answer changes from one address to the next. What stays constant is the finish: clean lines, clean walks, and plants that look like they were always meant to be there.
