Thursday mornings at Honey Horn there are tomatoes on folding tables and live oaks throwing shade over the whole gathering. The Green Thumb works those same hours in yards around Hilton Head Island — cutting, edging, trimming by hand at the borders, hedge shaping, bed weeding, mulch and cleanups as the season turns. Growing anything in coastal sand takes patience and a streak of stubbornness, and lawns are no exception.
