July is loud and heavy — cicadas grinding in the oaks, heat shimmering off the blacktop, humidity that makes the air feel like a held breath. Grass loves it, so the mower goes out early and the passes are laid straight, each overlapping the last until the yard lies down in even rows. Trimming follows the fence and the foundation, edging cuts the seam at the walk, and the blower sends every stray clipping back into the turf. In this weather a lawn can put on inches between visits, so the schedule keeps its teeth and nothing gets away. Late in the day the stripes catch the low sun and the whole yard looks brushed.
