Grass Nerds

About Grass Nerds

Greenville sits on Piedmont clay — red, heavy, quick to bake in August and quick to puddle in a spring downpour — and the grass that does well here is the grass whose details get respected. Grass Nerds pays attention to those details: mowing height, cut interval, edges kept where they belong, fall overseeding while the soil still holds summer's warmth. November is the quiet proving ground, when the leaves come off and a lawn either looks tended or looks abandoned. Blowing, cleanup and one more pass before the cold sets in make the difference visible from the sidewalk. Around Greenville and the towns close by, the argument gets made one yard at a time.
